Scrimmage observations (9/29)
Kentucky's baseball team scrimmaged at Kentucky Proud Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Kentucky baseball team is a week away from facing outside competition. On Oct. 6, Kentucky will travel to Mason, Ohio, to face Wright State at Prasco Park. But on Sunday, the Wildcats scrimmaged against each other at Kentucky Proud Park. Roughly a dozen scouts were in attendance and a smattering of fans made it out to the ballpark to catch six innings of an intrasquad.
If you read last week’s pitching observations, you’ll be familiar with the pitchers who threw during the scrimmage today. The only changes from the list last week are that James McCoy pitched the final inning of the scrimmage and Radford transfer Scott Rouse did not throw today. Here’s how the teams were split up on Sunday:
Away team
Shuan Montoya - RF
Patrick Herrera - 3B
Eli Small - LF
Will Marcy - CF
Hudson Brown - 1B
Landon Franklin - 2B
Kyuss Gargett - DH (later subbed in at second base)
Tyler Bell - SS
Nolan Belcher (subbed in at catcher late)
Hayden Mains
Note: Redshirt senior Devin Burkes was the catcher for this team but he did not bat during the scrimmage. The pitchers who faced this lineup were Ethan Walker, Robert Hogan and Cole Hentschel.
